Re: best 300 fullbail
I would agree with Ted's evaluation. Those reels were built like a tank with smoooooooooth operation. I do use the 331 for pin point casting from our small row boat. Every year we go down to Myrtle Beach area for vacation. The MITCHELLS come with us. After fishing I thoroughly rinse them in fresh wa...

Re: New in box Garcia Mitchell 301 left hand code 1102
Pictures would tell a story. The code is for Garcia's ID of what reel is for that box. Could be a different variation depending on the box. Also the number on the bottom of the foot should match the label on the box. The reels never came with line on the spool and was put on after the sale of the re...

TOES, We are not offended just needed to know what information you wanted about his books. Yes, they can be expensive but well worth the cost. Nothing to do with rebuilding or researching the 300 as Wallace's Book. Dennis's books covers the Mitchell spectrum of reels made. Obviously not all can be a...

linewinder, Not sure if same diameter but they are not interchangeable to my knowledge. Reason being is the 900 series has the skirted spool which fits over the reel. Whereas the regular 300 fits inside the rotor. Hope this helps.

Ted, it's shame the seller packed and shipped a rare reel with box that way. I've had my share of packages ending up that way over the years. Would the green be for the Prince 358 reel only since there are in essence a 308? Also are 304 and 358 drag knobs interchangeable? I would not think they are because of the spool sizes and shaft. *****************NOTE NOTE*************** After checking Dennis Robert's Value collectors guide I came a...

I normally fill it to the edge. Mitchell has literature and pictures on the proper amount and way to fill spools. Depends on how you are fishing. I drift fish a lot and let out around 200' of line in 30' - 40' of water. On our summer vacation this past August I fished that way. Big fish took my bait...

Nice pictures. Could you get a little closer to rotor for each side. If it wasn't cut then there's a possibility that maybe a factory worker custom fitted the reel for themselves. It was known to happen from time to time. Would be why the paint matches the rotor perfectly. Kim PS- I compared it to m...

The 410 is same as the 400 but with roller bearings. There may be other differences but that is about it. The 310 is an ultra light that were made in France and then Taiwan. France version shipped in MS box but Taiwan in plastic package. 1990 vintage.

I can understand not liking the seller part, haha. Dennis's value guide was published in 2006. He valued that reel with only 500 released $1400. Price varies on condition and box or boxes. According to him could vary or swing up or down between 20% - 30%. Would love to see a picture of it.
