Schrack,
I got them both from my flea market guy, after seeing them on ebay. I think I paid $9.00 for both. They bottom one I think I have only used to remove the screws on a 300 oscillation guide, and the side plate on the 308.

I while back I became friends with a rod builder with 30 years experience, he became my mentor. He was from NJ before moving to NC 25 years ago.I sent him a couple Mitchell's he had as a kid, I often send him Tastykake's (that's a Phila.PA thing). He sent me 2 vintage Conolon 6.25' blanks. Oh ok got ya. Thanks for clearing that up for me. The gear I repaired runs so smooth. I think that when I service my reels, I will start removing the pinion something I haven't done in the past. I kept a cup of the synthetic oil, I'll give them a bath before installing.

Dries' I think Sandman mentioned 17 bearings each side. I kind of figured it out putting them back. Those little buggers started out being a pain n the butt! I finally took a small magnetic screw driver to pick up the bearings, than with my finger behind them put them in place. I put it all together...

I think you can look into 3 things. Is the anti reverse (A/R) spring in correctly it goes in front of the dog (photo attached)? Maybe the spring tension holding it back. Or it could be a worn dog.
Hope this helps,

A lot of cross referencing between the 400 and 410 for parts. I did see a crack in the plastic at the gear on the axle, 1 400 part used :banana-dance: .
I don't really know, but I don't think it is after market.
