Coomby, :text-welcomeconfetti: to the Mitchell Reel Museum. You have me stumped. I have never seen or heard of a Mitchell 326. Of course, it could be just a matter of the 326 not being imported to the US. Could you post a close-up picture or two of your reel on the forum? That might help. Regards, T...

C. Beckley, :text-welcomeconfetti: to the Mitchell Reel Museum. Re: Mitchell 300 reels. Am I dating them correctly

Crappie54, IMHO, I think you have the dating right on the first two reels correct. Now, that $10 reel may be what we call a "Frankenreel". It sounds like you may have and earlier sideplate with just the Mitchell 3_0_0 engraved on it with a 6th version body. According to Wallace, "the ...

Kim,
It is my opinion that the fish sticker on the front of your box and the absence of "Garcia" on the reel indicate that this reel was produced for European consumption.

I just read your PM, and Sweden makes perfect sense.

It's a very nice reel to own.

Based on your serial number, your reel was produced in 1962. They started making them in 1961, so you have one of the earlier ones.

Rockman, Based on your pictures, you have a 3rd version Mitchell. The early third version reels 1946/1949 had no serial numbers but can have a single other number like the 5 on yours. In the two or three years after that there were serial numbers placed on the back of the gearcase, opposite the hand...

Mitchell changed to a plastic spindle base during the production of the 4th version reel. They still used the heart shaped pawl for a bit longer. I believe that changed during the late 5th versions.
