These fish here are what you would call a Monster, some look like giant gold fish, apparently they also top feed, they break water alot. Looks like they travel in pairs. From what I have seen not very agressive. Not interested in catching just facinated. I know Sportex makes a Carp Rod. Germany has s...

CARP?

Do any of you fish for Carp? I observe these monsters feeding, in the sallows, but never see anyone catching them. Once in 1958 I caught one 12 inches at Lock Haven, Pa. I know they get a bad rap, however I think they keep the waters balanced. How would a 300 hold up catching one? I strictly am a Cha...

I do not get concerned about bail wires, only where the screw and line catch is, they normally do not have effect on line just guide it.
I have some nasty ones that function normal.
Have not cut or damaged line.

Sounds like they made it more trouble than what it was worth.
I am still confused!
Winding backwards would mess me up.
From whar you say, they used a 302 drive gear which would drive back wards.
If you can find a 303 drive gear it might work.
That's one I don't have.

It turns backwards?
The eight screws really confuse me.
Making WAG it might be 302 drive gear if installed on a 301 would turn back wards. So that would be my WAG (Wild Ass Guess) more Air Force slang.LOL

If it is 6 numbers it would be from 1953 up to mid block 1955. Do not know exact month in 55 numbers hit 7 digits. Strange! (What does spool look like together)?
The Reel would be 1954.
Someone along the way changed the left case which is from a later model reel.
Is their any marking on spools?

Cool, I' be been wondering about this sticker. I have several earlier with just Mitchell on them that has or had a sticker. My guess is 1954 to maybe 1956. At some date in 54 they started to apply this sticker. Would have to go thru reels to see what numbers have them. Not sure what year the 300 was...

Welcome to the Forum. I looked at a schematic and would assume it has 2 parts, actual Dog 81181 and spring 81188. The dog goes on the small pin on case, then you position the spring from case to dog. When you move the lever on out side of case it moves the drag off of the teeth on drive gear. The sp...
