Re: What does the S stand for

My Brother bought a Mitchell CAP 304S and he wants to know what does the S stand for. The CAP 304S was produced from 70-73 and all other reels with the S on them were produced from 1979 to 1987 according to this website. We compared his 304S to one of my CAP reels and other than the S there is no d...

Thanks everyone! I assume it is refillable and reusable. Hoisk, It seems to me what Mitchell and or Garcia were trying to do, was sell more of their brand(s) of fishing line. They may have also been trying to make changing line more convenient for the fisherman with a plug-and-play type set-up. The...

Hoisk, :text-welcomeconfetti: Welcome to the Mitchell Reel Museum! (MRM). What you have is what is known as a "Cartridge Spool". These were spools that were originally included in-the-box with a new Mitchell 300 reel as sort of a promotional item in European countries. Some say the first c...

Ted,
No doubt about it having an air compressor is great. However, not everyone reading about beginner basics can have a compressor. Other than blowing hard, the compressed air in a can works great, especially if your lungs aren't what they used to be.

Ted, You bring up a good point about compressed air and I agree. Say you don't have an air compressor available? You can buy compressed air in a can that works quite well for small jobs like a fishing reels or your computer key board. I get mine by the case from COSTCO. When the can is empty it goes...
