He per that's the one, drives ovulating gear, and pinion drives rotating head.
As Stated , I have replaced more of these than others.
If vibe are too bad replace all gears, normally a matched set.
Old maintance practise don't fix it if its not broke.

The 300, as you look at base on left side, you have drive, pinion and transfer gears, the transfer gear is the middle sized gear, has a smaller gear mounted on top 81032. Sorry for not specifying. It is the middle sized one on the Mitchell, One year Mitchell made these out of Plastic and they did not hold up, the normal wear is teeth fracture and will bind the reel up or you could have a skip in winding in. I have replaced more transfer gears than any other. Once replaced have not had any strange vibrations. As I stated in another post the channel that the shaft rides is one of the biggest problems. What is the different from the Regular 300?

I have three with higher ser. #'s plus they have the sticker on the left side.

How much Line do you put on a spool?
Not amount, but how much of spool do you fill spool.
Many say 1/8 of an inch from max capacity.
Does it depend on Reel?

I gave 2 away, have a soft spot for the Guys who are into fishing , but can not afford a good Rig.
One kid that frequents my favorite spot, gave him a nice 300 along with a good pole, was not the thanks but, the look on his face when he is fishing.

Sounds like a shim problem, check a schematic and see if a shim is availible , should give you a part number if it is.

Used a Dremel and wire brush, were not screws.
Next step Dewalt and bit, drilled them out.
Weight was trashy looking, Reel had water in rotating head, components inside were all trashed.
Body and all other parts are like new. Weird Huh!
